1934 a mishap lead to the invention of the first plastic bonded permanent magnet. A precious, very brittle AlNiCo magnet dropped on the floor during a test and scattered into many individual pieces. Time was too short for casting a new magnet and thus MAX BAERMANN had the idea to simply glue all the pieces together again. With success: some time later he filed a patent on plastic bonded permanent magnets, made from milled magnetic particles mixed with phenol resin powder and then moulded it to finished formed bodies under the influence of pressure and heat.
1956 the flexible magnetic material ("magnetic rubber") was invented and, shortly thereafter, the injection moulded thermoplastic bonded magnet. The invention of the flexible magnets was the prerequisite for a further invention by Max Baermann: the magnetic gasket which today is integrated in every refrigerator door. Large numbers of moulded permanent magnets are today manufactured by MAX BAERMANN GMBH (MB) in accordance with the stringent regulations of QS-9000 and ISO 9001, fully automatically from the raw material up to the packaged condition to be used, e.g. in micro motors and sensors for the automobile industry.
1966 Horst M. Baermann, the son of Max Baermann, founded today's RHEINMAGNET Horst Baermann GmbH. Using laminating, stamping, cutting and printing machines, RM turns flexible permanent magnets into finished products of small and large series which, by using efficient magnetizing equipment of own development and design, are magnetized as required to suit their individual application.
1979 Horst M. Baermann founded BAERMANN MAGNETICS INC. (BMI) in Spartanburg, SC/U.S.A.
1983 H.M. Baermann developed a permanent magnet which was specifically suitable for therapeutic purposes which, under the internationally registered trade mark BIOflex® has become a world-wide synonym for the effective treatment of certain body discomforts. Since then a large number of further inventions in the field of magnetic therapy have been filed and/or applied for patent in Germany and abroad.
1992 founding of MAGNAPLAST TECHNOLOGIES (INDIA) PVT.LTD. (MTI) in Poona, India as a joint venture of MAX BAERMANN GMBH and H.M. Baermann with an Indian partner company. MTI was taken over 100% by MB and HMB in 1999. Manufacturing programme: similar to MB and RM.
1995 founding of MAGNETIC METER SYSTEMS (INDIA) LTD. in Madras and Pondicherry, India, as a joint venture between MAX BAERMANN GMBH and a large Indian group of companies. Manufacturing programme: magnets and magnetic systems for electric meters.
1995 RM developes a hybrid magnet system for magnet therapeutic purposes by using flexible magnets and the rare earth material NdFeB.
1996 a quality management system to DIN ISO 9000 ff is developed and established.
1997 certification to DIN ISO 9001.
1997 Invention of a magnetic radially orientated magnetic system which consists, mainly, of a magnetic profile coiled in the form of a spiral. Due to its particularly deep penetration effect it is preferably applied in therapeutic bandages, shoe soles and similar appliances.
2001 POLYFLEX MAGNETS LTD (PML) was founded in China as a joint venture between MAX BAERMANN GMBH and a Chinese partner. Manufacturing programme: flexible permanent magnets.
2001 certification to DIN ISO 46001 QS system for medical products.
2001 consolidation of the German and world-wide companies and partnerships of MAX BAERMANN under MAX BAERMANN HOLDING AG.
2003 latest certification of DIN ISO 9001:2000 and to DIN ISO 13485 for medical products.
2006 RHEINMAGNET GMBH celebrates its 40th anniversary
2007 Since 01.01.2007 Dipl.-Kfm. Eckhard Baermann is the new Managing Director of RHEINMAGNET Horst Baermann GmbH
2009 Installation of a modern computer-controlled high-rack warehouse allowing for considerably reduced delivery times.
